In this workshop we will explore all kinds of inversions from forward fold to head stand, learning the proper warm ups prior to the asanas, as well as the alignment and the settle adjustments to achieve these poses with less effort and more awareness. We will learn approximately 5 inversions, understanding their sanskrit name, and what it means, so we can understand the pose better, and also learning the benefits, and contradictions of these asanas. This workshop is on January 20th from 1-3pm at Yoga Art Space (8338 Comanche Rd NE)
1) Creating a strong foundation:
Inversions help us build self esteem, getting in touch with the ground underneath us, creating a sense of trust. When we place our hands on the earth, or the mat.. All of a sudden, the floor seems to be a part of us, rather than something we can fall into, this way, we replace fear with confidence.
2) Give the Heart a rest:
By going upside down, we are strengthening our torso, the sacred chapel of the heart, and giving the heart it self a rest by letting the blood flow with gravity instead.By becoming stronger in the torso and arms, we feel a sense of empowerment that aids us in achieving our goals and dreams.
3) Stay healthy:
While inverting we are delivering white cells more evenly throughout the body strengthening out immune system.
4) Food for the brain.
The Brain uses 25% of the bloods oxygen. Being upside down, increases the blood flow to the brain, delivering an extra boost of fuel to your brain to help it function better, it increases memory, and awareness.
