His Music is deeply rooted in the Gypsy Swing of 1930s mostly associated with famed guitarist Django Reinhardt. Joscho’s trademark as an artist is- despite being a world-renowned virtuoso – his versatility and creativity in combining this great heritage with his various musical influences that can be easily identified in his playing
Joscho Stephan and his various ensembles perform in concerts, guitar festivals and clubs all over the world. Stephan has performed with giants such as Paquito D’Rivera, James Carter, Charlie Mariano, Grady Tate and Tommy Emmanuel. He played on many festivals all over the world (Italy, France, Spain, England, Australia, Poland, Slovenia etc.). Other milestones include New Yorker Lincoln Center, his guest performance in one of the centers of music in the USA - Nashville, Tennessee. and his shows in Charlie Parker’s place of worship – the Jazzclub „Birdland in New York City.
The international press reaction is celebrating the young artist. His album “Swinging String” was elected CD of the month in Guitar Player Magazine. The renowned Acoustic Guitar Magazine called Joscho Stephan the future of the Gypsy Jazz Guitar.
