World renowned band, Tool, has remained one of the last bastions of metal in a music world dominated by hardcore and nu metal. With head pounding tour dates and a style that features a touch of the psychedelic, Tool has become a favorite of audiences around the world. Tool's loyal fan base has been waiting in earnest for the release of an album that they've waited two years for. With no more tour dates in 2011, they're also waiting for the band's return to full-length concert schedules.
The members of Tool met through a series of coincidences and introductions through mutual friends, and formed circa 1990. After playing tour dates opening for bands like Fishbone and Rage Against the Machine, Tool scored a big hit with their 1996 album, Ænima, which has gone triple platinum and won the band their first Grammy for Best Metal Performance.
The band's 2001 album, Lateralus experienced similar success and popularity and was followed by some of the biggest tour dates of Tool's career. Prior to the release of 10,000 Days in 2006, fans were working themselves into a frenzy on blogs, doing anything to catch just a glimpse of the new album. However, shortly after the album's release, Tool went on a recording hiatus.
Even before the hiatus, Tool had stated that they had new material for a new album, leaving fans wondering when the new album will be released. With no tour dates in 2011, fans will just have to wait patiently for Tool's full return to their illustrious music career.
