More Info

Chelsea Handler: The New Jersey native grew up in a Reform Judaism and Mormon synthesized home, a fact which she often mocks in her stand-up. The aspiring comedienne left her hometown for LA when she was a teen to pursue a career in acting and stand-up comedy. It would take her a decade before she hit the big time with her debut book My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands in 2005. The book was a success and led to two more New York Times bestsellers including Are You There, Vodka? It's Me Chelsea and Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang. In all, her book sales have totaled 1.7 million copies and have helped to launch her stand-up comedy and television career. Chelsea Handler comedy tour dates were scheduled on the Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang Tour to promote her books and stand-up comedy.

By 2005, Handler's stand-up comedy was garnering mainstream attention and she was featured on The Tonight Show as a correspondent. Handler also landed guest spots on The Bernie Mac Show and My Wife and Kids. She was approached by the E! Network to headline her own late-night talk-show entitled Chelsea Lately. The hit-show debuted in 2007 and has been a runaway success for the cable network. The show features a round-table in which Handler invites other comedians who discuss hot topics of the day followed by a "celebrity" interview. The success of the show led to the spin-off mock reality-show, After Lately, which details life on the set of the show.

Handler's fifth book, Uganda Be Kidding Me, was released in 2014 and spent two straight weeks at #1 on the New York Times Best Seller List. The book sparked a hugely popular live tour, which Handler parlayed into a widely acclaimed Netflix stand-up special. The special was just the first part of a revolutionary deal with Netflix, where Handler became the streaming provider's first talk show host on Chelsea in 2016.

That same year, Handler embarked on a more serious project with the four-part Netflix documentary Chelsea Does, where she explored more serious and socially relevant topics with the help of her celebrity friends. Handler continued to move in a more serious direction by leaps and bounds with her next Netlfix documentary, 2019's Hello Privilege. It's Me, Chelsea. The movie takes a stark look at white privilege (including Handler's own) in America, with insights from comedians like Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish as well as from the nation's leading civil rights experts.

A New York Times best-selling author, stand-up comedian, occasional actress, reality-star, and late-night talk show host; Chelsea Handler is a proven entertainment mogul. Whether it's on the stage, on the screen, or on the page, this blonde, Bel Air bombshell will continue to have her finger to the pulse of the public.
