Dave Diaz, Ronna Nemitz and Niki Woehler Present Variety of Art Mediums at the Hotel

The FOUND:RE Phoenix, located at 1100 North Central Avenue, announces its latest exhibitions on display for Art Detour 30 Weekend, a celebration of community and cultural artistry, taking place March 16 through 18.

“Art Detour is the perfect time to present new art throughout the FOUND:RE, says Michael Oleskow, FOUND:RE’s cultural curator. “We are excited about the new artists joining us this year, as well as the artists who are returning with new works.”

In the hotel lobby, Dave Diaz’s first ever exhibit “Debris by the Sea” showcases his resin sculptures that are created from the self-described “trash” left behind by surfboard makers. Diaz turns this colorful hardened leftover resin into repurposed masterpieces, each of which requires hundreds of hours of grinding, chiseling, filing, sanding and polishing — until the end result appears as smooth as blown glass.

Niki Woehler’s art will be on display, taking over FOUND:RE’s entire Gallery space. Inspired by nature, Woehler’s work falls into two different categories — abstract acrylic/mixed media on canvas and resin on panel. Woehler’s prior works have been featured in group shows such as 9 The Galley, Deck’d and Sisao, which benefit 10 local Arizona charities.

Artist Ronna Nemitz returns to The Box at FOUND:RE for the second year in a row by request, with a new installation called Life is Infinite. Her art includes public and gallery installations that involve people, photography, sculptural elements, and her signature neon lighting.

Diaz’s work will be displayed at FOUND:RE March 16-18 for the special Art Detour 30 exhibition. Nemitz and Woehler will have their work featured at the hotel through May.

The INFOCUS Members exhibition remains in The Studio at FOUND:RE through March 30, featuring photography art by INFOCUS, a Phoenix Art Museum group that promotes and supports the Arizona photography community. This display gives photographic artists an opportunity for additional publicity by way of the Viewers’ Choice Award.

Art spaces, within the hotel, are generally open weekdays and weekends and by checking availability at the front desk. The Box, located on the outside NE corner of the hotel across from the Irish Cultural Center is available for viewing at all times.
